About
Welcome to the blog that acts as a companion to my full website. This blog will help to serve as a place to post recent additions to that website as well as a place where I will post some of my favourite photos and writing that I’ve done myself or that I’ve found elsewhere on the web. Enjoy.
My interests range from politics to history to web design to photography and more. I’ve been working with websites for the last few years, but have just recently become really interested in developing my CSS skills and knowledge. I’m always looking for great tutorials and examples of what can be done in a website.
As far as my photography goes: I started learning about photography after the Spring Break trip that I took during my Freshman year of college. After that I learned more and more with every trip I went on. Then, before the trip that I took down to the Grand Canyon and Death Valley my Sophomore year my mom lent me her old Mamyiya film SLR camera; from that I learned much more.
Then during the summer after my Sophomore year I went to Sicily with a professor to work on an archeological dig with her. While working on that I got the opportunity to do the photography for the dig that summer. This amounted to working with sherds of pottery from the 7th-century BCE that were anywhere from a little bigger than a fingernail to almost half of a pot. Overall, I took 1100 photographs of sherds with a Nikon D300 (which was great to use).
Much of the skills that I have learned about adjusting photos in post-processing tools like Apple’s Aperture I have done while working in the Multimedia Development Lab at my college. I continue to experiment with photography and am slowly working toward saving enough for a SLR so that I can really jump fully in.
Thanks for visiting my blog and taking a look around. I hope that you enjoy what you read and see.
